Leadership & governance

Authority held with humility. Responsibility carried with care.

The public posture of TDI is institutional rather than personality-led. Founders are named in the story. The board carries the fiduciary load. Program Directors sit together at the Stewards’ Table. Advisors strengthen the work without replacing either.

The people of the work

Rooted in proximity, discernment, and long-term stewardship.

Use real approved photography when available. Until then, this page uses clearly labeled placeholders rather than invented people. Biographies emphasize relevant experience, responsibility, and service — not inflated claims.

Chris Meidl

Founding leadership

TDI was founded by Chris and Holly Meidl out of a long-term commitment to respond practically and substantively to needs within their communities of proximity and broader garden of influence. Title and public biography remain subject to approval.

The legal fiduciary body. Directors govern mission, strategy, financial sustainability, risk, policy, and executive accountability.

Ministry, clinical, legal, arts, land, education, and community advisors who strengthen the work without replacing the Board.

Biblically grounded · Ethically robust · Transparent · Measurable · Accountable.

The Stewards’ Table

No Program Director has to lead alone.

The Stewards’ Table is TDI’s leadership community of Program Directors — entrusted with strengthening one another, each Chartered Program, and the whole ecosystem. It is not a board. It is not management. It is a covenant community of peers.

As each Program grows stronger, every other Program benefits. The Table exists so that no TDI leader ventures out alone.

  • Not governance
  • Not management
  • Not merely professional development
A group of leaders gathered around a table in conversation.

A trusted community of Program Directors who steward their missions with excellence and collectively advance TDI through mutual wisdom, collaboration, encouragement, and faithful leadership — built on trust and prayer.

Monthly

A private online community for questions, resources, introductions, documents, celebration, problem-solving, and prayer.

Every other month

A 90-minute virtual cohort with the Executive Director: wins, challenges, a deep learning topic, a Director presentation, and prayer.

Quarterly

Small peer groups of three or four Directors for confidential conversation, coaching, and mutual encouragement.

Annually

A two- or three-day Leadership Summit — the family reunion of the ecosystem — for shared learning, Board conversation, worship, and renewal.

What Directors receive

  • Trusted peers and collective wisdom
  • Cross-disciplinary insight and shared tools
  • Spiritual support and reduced isolation
  • Access to TDI leadership and the Board

What they contribute

  • Experience, including failures and successes
  • Honest feedback and mentorship
  • Subject-matter expertise and introductions
  • Prayer, ideas, and investment in everyone else’s success

Core commitments

The posture of the Table.

  • Humility over competition
  • Contribution over consumption
  • Candor with grace
  • Stewardship over ownership
  • Collaboration before duplication
  • Confidentiality and trust
  • Continuous learning
  • Shared responsibility for the health of the whole
Each year Directors bring an Annual Harvest: what worked, what they would do differently, one lesson for the whole, one opportunity needing partners, and one prayer. Over time the Table becomes institutional memory no single Program could hold alone.

Strong enough to carry responsibility. Open enough to learn.

Humble authority is a core value because unaccountable charisma harms the people a mission claims to love. Bounds are part of the witness.

We pursue that standard — not perfection that performs, but humility that holds.

Governance clarity

Freedom and form held together.

TDI board responsibility

The governing board carries fiduciary duty, legal and tax-exempt status, policy, risk, and institutional accountability for every Chartered Program.

Program leadership responsibility

Program leaders carry field identity, methods, participant experience, and designated donor relationships — inside TDI, not beside it. Together they form the Stewards’ Table, a peer community that does not govern TDI and does not replace the Board.

Advisory councils bring expertise and community trust. They do not replace the TDI governing board. The Stewards’ Table is the Program Directors’ own cohort — distinct from both. Inquire about serving.
