The Walden Initiative: Conservation and Formation
A developing note on land, deliberate living, and why acreage without a way of life is not yet stewardship.

The Walden Initiative is in development. That sentence is doing honest work. It means TDI is attending to land and formation without claiming a preserve, a campus, or a public program that does not yet exist.
The working conviction is that conservation and formation belong together. Land can be legally protected and still unused as a teacher. People can be formed in classrooms and never learn the patience that a particular place requires.
Any future response will have to answer ordinary questions: Whose land? What already lives there? What would TDI displace? What would we be unable to steward well? Those questions are not delays. They are the work.
If you hold land, or love a particular landscape, the invitation is to map it with us — not to assume TDI should acquire, brand, or operate it.
